Ramirez vs Taylor odds & picks: Chase the ‘Tornado’

May 19, 2021Jun 11, 2021 Stryker Maguire

Jose Ramirez vs Josh Taylor gives long-suffering fight fans the chance to forget all the Fury/Joshua/Wilder craziness for just a night and we have odds and picks for Saturday’s huge showdown in Las Vegas.

The super-lightweight unification match sees all four major belts on the line at 140lbs. Ramirez is the reigning WBC and WBO king while Scotland’s ‘Tartan Tornado’ Taylor brings the IBF and WBA straps to the table.

The winner will become boxing’s only current active undisputed world champion, and the timing of this fight could not be more apt given the incredibly frustrating heavyweight storyline currently unfolding on the front and back pages.

Both men are undefeated ahead of this sumptuous showdown in Sin City. Ramirez (26-0 with 17 KOs) always sets a high tempo in his fights and is a brawler, while Taylor (17-0 with 13 inside distance) is the more technically skilled of the pair. The perfect matchup.

Here’s all you need to know ahead of what should be a classic confrontation.

Ramirez vs Taylor Odds

Taylor is trading as favorite right now on the money line for the big unification match, but not convincingly.

The Scot is best odds at -240 with FanDuel (bet $240 to win $100) while Ramirez is +215 with Resorts (bet $100 to win $215).

The Draw – often worth a small wager in huge fights like this which likely go to the cards – is best odds at +2000 with a number of sportsbooks.

Ramirez vs Taylor Picks

Based on their ring records to this point Taylor has mixed it in better company and is a deserving favorite with the online bookmakers.

Wins over Regis Prograis and Viktor Postol showed he is a truly world-class operator. Ramirez also beat Postol in his most recent outing, while also punching out a scintillating stoppage over the useful Maurice Hooker in July 2019.

Both men boxed in the 2012 Olympics and are in their respective fighting primes, so it’s difficult to imagine the fight not catching fire.

Ramirez’ best hope is dragging Josh into a dogfight. However if the Scot can keep his discipline he can showcase his superior skills and heart by punching out a win on the cards.

OddsCritic Pick: Josh Taylor to win by Decision or Technical Decision at -105 (bet365)
