Spence vs Ugas Odds, Picks, TV & Live Stream

Apr 16, 2022Apr 16, 2022 Stryker Maguire

Errol Spence Jr is back in action on April 16 vs Yordenis Ugas in a huge welterweight unification battle and we have odds, profiles and much more ahead of the showdown in Arlington.

Spence and Ugas lock horns at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, with Spence WBC and IBF belts and Ugas’ WGA strap all on the line.

Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford of course holds the other title at 147lbs and the WBO champion looms large over this one with the tantalizing prospect of a future matchup with Spence for all the marbles. We can but hope…

Spence vs Ugas Latest Odds

Not surprisingly Spence is a clear favorite for this one, but it’s not overwhelming. Ugas has at least got some respect after that famous win over an ageing Manny Pacquiao. Latest odds for the big fight are:

Spence vs Ugas Picks

Our boxing expert has previewed the fight in detail, and he likes Errol to win on points. We were 3 for 3 with our boxing picks last weekend, so we are on a hot streak.

When does the fight start?

The big fight goes down on Saturday April 16, 2022 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Ring walks are expected between 11pm and midnight Eastern Time (between 8pm and 9pm Pacific).

How can I watch on TV or live stream?

Spence is under contract with Al Haymon and PBC (Premier Boxing Champions), who in turn has a broadcast deal with Showtime.

All Spence’s fights these days are PPV and this one is no different and Showtime has the call here with the price point set at $74.99.

Spence vs Ugas Weights

Spence vs Ugas is a welterweight fight so a limit of 147lbs. The fighters weighed in Friday – 24 hours ahead of the bout. Spence tipped the scales at 146.25lbs with Ugas at 146.75lbs. Both under – we have a fight!

Errol Spence Jr Record & Stats

Errol Spence Jr is at the peak of his powers as he continues to rule at least a major part of boxing’s welterweight division as a mainstay in most boxing P4P lists.

Spence, born in Long Island on March 3, 1990, is now 32 years old and has a perfect professional record of 27-0 – 27 victories in 27 fights with 21 of them inside distance. He fights out of a southpaw stance (leading with his right hand and not his left like most fighters).

Errol, who stands 5ft 10ins tall (1.78m) and has a reach of 72ins (1.83m), does not have a KO in his last three fights though – decision wins over Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia. This will also be his first fight for 16 months – that win over Danny Garcia was way back in December 2020.

Spence won his first world title back in 2017 with a brilliant win over Britain’s Kell Brook in Sheffield, England. That was good enough to claim the IBF title, and the WBC strap followed when he decisioned Porter in 2019.

A terrific boxer with superb skills, Spence’s career was almost ended in terrible circumstances when he suffered horrific injuries after crashing his Ferrari in Dallas in 2019. Somehow he is fighting again.

Now resident in DeSoto, Texas, Spence will effectively have home advantage when he hosts Ugas in Arlington. Two of his last three bouts have taken place there.

Yordenis Ugas Record & Stats

Yordenis Ugas was born in Cuba on July 14, 1986 and he will be 35 years old when he steps into the ring for his big test vs Spence.

Ugas is coming off a career-best win against the legendary Pacquiao – he was a late stand-in for that bout back in August 2021 – ironically stepping in when Spence was forced out by an eye injury.

That win over Pacquiao – a hardfought decision – elevated Ugas to a pro record of 27-4 with 15 wins inside distance.

Ugas is on a win streak of four heading into the showdown with Spence, and his last defeat was a split-decision loss to Porter in 2019.

Prior to turning over to the professional ranks, Ugas had a stellar amateur career with a highlight of claiming Olympic Games bronze in Beijing in 2008.

The Cuban stands 5ft 9ins tall (1.75m) and has a reach of 69ins (1.75m). He fights out of an orthodox stance.
