Masters Odds: History beckons for Matsuyama

Apr 10, 2021Jan 09, 2022 Stryker Maguire

This is our content updating on the odds for 2021 Masters at August National – you can get the latest ahead of the 2022 Masters by clicking here.

It’s golf’s biggest week of the year, and the battle for The Green Jacket at Augusta National is threatening to turn into a one-horse race – just check out the latest Masters odds for 2021.

Hideki Matsuyama is now hot favorite to don the famous fashion accessory in Butler Cabin Sunday after making a major move Saturday.

The pre-event line had defending champion Dustin Johnson as the slight favorite, but it’s all change at the top of the betting.

By the end of Round 3 on Saturday, the top of the Augusta leaderboard looked like this:

  • -11 Hideki Matsuyama
  • -7 Marc Leishman, Justin Rose Will Zalatoris, Xander Schauffele
  • -6 Corey Conners
  • -5 Jordan Spieth
  • -4 Brian Harman

Here’s the very latest on what the online bookmakers say about golf’s biggest weekend of the year.

Current Masters Odds: To win in 2021

The 29-year-old Matsuyama produced a quite stunning performance Saturday to not only shake up the leaderboard, but also the betting line.

The man from Ehime played the last eight holes alone in six under par as he destroyed the back nine to shoot a brilliant 65.

While he was roaring clear at the head of the field, the chasing pack was pretty much standing pat. Justin Rose shot a second consecutive 72 to retain a share of second place on -7 – along with Marc Leishman and Will Zalatoris. Xander Schauffele is also -7 after a superb 68. But even that fine round was overshadowed by Matsuyama.

Corey Conners also fired a 68 to move to -6 and five shots off the lead. The 2015 champion Jordan Spieth meanwhile had a Saturday to forget. He went into round three as favorite, but shot a disappointing 72 to end the day still on -5. Six shots back is not imposible, but he is up against the eight ball now.

Pre-event consensus pick Justin Thomas had a disastrous afternoon in Georgia, firing 75 to end the day on -1, 10 shots off the lead. He is now as big as +5000 with PointsBet.

Here are the best odds available for the leading contenders (relevant sportsbook in brackets):

  • -115 Hideki Matsuyama (PointsBet)
  • +500 Justin Xander Schauffele (widely available)
  • +1000 Will Zalatoris (widely available)
  • +1100 Justin Rose (PointsBet)
  • +1200 Marc Leishman (DraftKings, PointsBet)
  • +2000 Jordan Speith (PointsBet)
  • +2500 Corey Conners (widely available)
  • +10000 Brian Harman (widely available)
  • +5000 Justin Thomas (PointsBet)

NB: Odds correct and updated at 0400 ET on Sunday April 11

Masters props: Top American & more

Our pick for Justin Rose to finish in the Top 5 is looking sweet right now – he’s best odds at -110 to complete that feat with William Hill.

The market for Top American meanwhile has Schauffele heading the market at +125 (Unibet, 888Sport, SugarHouse) while Zalatoris comes next at +175 (with multiple online bookmakers). Spieth is a +350 shot with multiple sportsbooks.

When does the Masters start?

The final round of the 2021 Masters starts on Sunday April 11, 2021 at 1000 ET (0700 PT).

Matsuyama and Schauffele will be the final group out on course, with a tee time of 1440 ET (1120 PT).

How can I watch the Masters on TV?

Jim Nantz recently inked a big-money extension with CBS Sports, and it wasn’t just the lure of working with Tony Romo on Sundays in fall that prompted him to do so.

Nantz is a golf nut who loves his annual pilgrimage to Augusta. He’s the voice of the tournament and forever etched into the history of the sport’s most famous event.

Jim will again have the call this year as CBS continues to have the rights to the premium weekend coverage. Sunday’s coverage on CBS runs from 1400 ET (1100 PT) to 1900 ET (1600 PT).
