They say no publicity is bad publicity, and the NFL betting odds prove it in the aftermath of that Zach Wilson mom ‘scandal’.
We don’t need to go into all the details, but the New York Jets starting QB is all of a sudden the toast of the NFL betting fraternity following those juicy rumors.
He has been heavily bet to be the league MVP in 2022 (he led the public betting recently) while astonishingly people are now betting the Jets to make the playoffs! Wild scenes people.
It would be a stretch to imagine either of these things happening just yet for a guy heading into his second year as a pro after an injury-hit rookie season. But those long-suffering fans in green can at least dream.
Here are all the latest odds about Wilson heading towards the 2022 NFL regular season.
Zach Wilson MVP Odds
Odds to lead the NFL in Passing Yards
Guess what, same odds, Zach is +10000 with Caesars to rack up more passing yards than any other QB in 2022.
The addition finally of a true WR1 in the shape of first-round draft pick Garrett Wilson (Ohio State) will definitely help, but it won’t all happen overnight. Unlike that mom ‘scandal’.
Odds to be Offensive Player of the Year (OPOY)
The first thing to remember here is that this award – unlike MVP – often does not go to a QB. It’s like a tradeoff.
Anyways, Wilson is a +15000 shot to win the honor in February next year.
Odds for Most Interceptions Thrown in 2022
At last, a category we have Zach as favorite for, but that is not a positive.
Wilson threw 11 picks in that injury-shortened 2021 rookie season and sportsbooks clearly expect him to go on producing at that rate for a little while yet. He’s the +800 favorite to throw most INTs in 2022 with DraftKings.
Total Passing Yards in 2022
The Over/Under here for Zach is set at 3750.5 – he threw for 2334 in 13 games last year so he needs to up that average production a little to have a shot of covering.
DraftKings bet -115 (bet $115 to win $100) that he comes in Under and -105 that he finishes the season over.
Passing Touchdowns in 2022
Okay, massive improvement needed here. Wilson tossed just 9 TD passes in 13 games in 2021, and the Over/Under for 2022 is currently set at 22.5.
DraftKings say it’s a toss-up whether he covers or not – it’s -110 for either Under or Over.
