Euro 2020 winner odds: Italy vs England so tight

Jul 08, 2021Jul 11, 2021 Stryker Maguire

The odds to be winner of Euro 2020 are now tighter than ever despite the fact we are now down to just two teams after the semi-finals.

England joined Italy in the final (Sunday, 1500 ET) with a controversial extra-time defeat of Denmark Wednesday. Harry Kane’s penalty – which infuriated the Danes and many experts – gave Gareth Southgate’s squad a 2-1 victory at Wembley.

Denmark actually scored first thanks to a sensational freekick from Mikkel Damsgaard, but that lead disappeared six minutes later when defender Simon Kajer diverted a cross into his own net under pressure from Raheem Sterling.

It was tied then until the 104th minute, deep into extra time. Joakim Maehle was penalised for a foul on Sterling and Kane scored the penalty at the second attempt after his first shot was saved by Kasper Schmeichel.

Now England has a golden opportunity to win its first major tournament in 55 years (the last was the World Cup in 1966, also on home soil in England) when it faces the excellent Italians Sunday.

Roberto Mancini’s squad is on a long 33-game undefeated streak, an amazing renaissance after the Azzurri had shockingly failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Online bookmakers are finding it tough to separate the two teams heading into Sunday’s final. DraftKings has Italy favorite at -115 with England a large-looking +140. Other sportsbooks though go the other way – they all so far have England as favorite ranging from -120 to -140.

Here is all the latest on the soccer betting odds heading into the semi-final action at Euro 2020.
